On Saturday at SMEX, photographer George Haddad hosted the first of a series of four Saturday afternoon workshops designed to teach essential photography skills. In addition to teaching good shooting practices, like “get close,” the workshop focused on the basics of understanding the relationship between aperture, shutter speed, and focal length. Participants were encouraged to bring their own cameras and spent time learning how to adjust them on manual settings so that they could gain more control of their pictures when they’re in the field.
The training was an expanded version of photo workshops George gave last summer in SMEX’s training of trainers course.
The next sessions will include trips into the field (or neighborhood) to shoot pictures, editing with Photoshop, and a session on how and where to host your photos online. The last workshop will be led by Social Media Exchange. Even if you missed the first workshop, you may still be able to sign up. Visit the Facebook event page to get in touch with George. The cost is 25,000LL per session.
