Social Media Officer
Job Overview
The Social Media Officer will play a pivotal role in the creation and implementation of dynamic social media strategies designed to enhance the organization’s visibility across a multitude of channels. Your responsibilities extend to creating content driving engagement, fostering community management, and maintaining meticulous content organization. Additionally, you will provide quantitative performance reports, tailored to the unique requirements of various projects.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the communications manager to create social media strategies and execute communication strategies across a spectrum of media channels and tools to maximize the organization’s reach and impact as well as advocate for digital rights.
- Work closely with the creative team to ensure the delivery of fresh, visually appealing content for both online and offline campaigns on a weekly basis, maintaining a consistent and engaging brand presence.
- Partner with the Communications team to brainstorm and produce video ideas that effectively communicate our message and engage our audience, while writing and proofreading scripts according to multimedia producer guidelines with the Editorial team.
- Develop and manage social media calendars for SMEX platforms, including the renowned Bread&Net event, ensuring a well-structured and engaging content schedule.
- Oversee community management by fostering meaningful interactions, responding to inquiries and comments effectively, and building a loyal and engaged audience.
- Ensure SMEX and Bread&Net are prominently visible and actively engaged across a wide array of social media platforms, maintaining brand consistency and integrity in all activities.
- Generate monthly quantitative reports on social media performance, providing valuable insights to refine and optimize strategies, ensuring continuous improvement and effective audience engagement.
- Work closely with the Editorial team to craft compelling editorial-based social media content, using strong narratives to enhance the organization’s online presence and messaging.
- Assist the communications manager in creating promotional materials and supporting advocacy communication efforts as required, ensuring all materials align with the organization’s objectives and messaging.
- Cultivate relationships and network with influencers, partners, and stakeholders to expand the organization’s social media reach and impact.
- Be prepared to handle and respond to any social media crises or challenges swiftly and effectively, safeguarding the organization’s online reputation.
- Stay updated with the latest social media trends, algorithms, ways to boost audience engagement and best practices to ensure the organization remains at the forefront of digital engagement.
- Manage and execute email campaigns through Mailchimp, utilizing the platform as a key tool for diffusing campaigns and research, and ensuring effective communication with our audience.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Media & Communication, Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations, or other relevant fields.
- 2-3 years of hands-on experience in social media management.
- Fluency in both Arabic and English, including spoken and written communication.
- Knowledge of social media management platforms and tools, including but not limited to Hootsuite, Meta Business Suite, Twitter, TikTok, etc.
- Understanding of the digital rights environment in the West Asia and North Africa (WANA) region and a shared commitment to human rights values, including privacy, users’ rights, digital surveillance, data protection, freedom of expression, accessibility, open culture, etc.
- Proficiency in creating and curating engaging content, including text, images, and videos.
- Proficiency in using analytics tools to measure and interpret the performance of social media campaigns and content, making data-driven decisions
- Strong creative thinking skills with the ability to generate innovative ideas for social media campaigns.
