“With all the online tools available, which tools should journalists use in newsgathering? How can they use them to their advantage? And, how should journalists interact with their readers to provide a better representation of their voices and report across cultures?”
A two-day workshop in Amman, Jordan, hosted by the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations, Google, and the Jordan Media Institute, will address these questions and train 25 journalists from the US and the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) on digital reporting skills. A specific focus will be given to “facilitating cross-cultural exchange” among “fellow leaders,” according to the announcement on the UNAOC website. Google tools will feature prominently in the training.
The workshop will take place on April 22-23, 2013, and targets applicants with a basic knowledge of digital tools and proficiency in English or Arabic.
No application deadline is given, but if you want to apply, make sure you have a CV and a 300-word cover letter ready to upload.
