Workshop: Learn Digital Storytelling

In September, SMEX will offer two workshops on digital storytelling. These trainings will help NGOs, activists, and civil society organizers use a variety of digital media, including photos, drawings, audio, and/or video, to tell compelling stories. The workshop will cover the main components of storytelling, how to plan and produce stories, and how to publish stories to YouTube.

In particular, participants will:

  • Draft your script
  • Create a storyboard
  • Capture images and sound for your story
  • Learn the best video extensions to use on YouTube
  • Learn how to use Creative Commons content from other users to avoid copyright infringement
  • Learn how to upload while using a tool to blur faces

The three-day workshop will be given twice, on 20-21-22 and 25-26-27  September at the SMEX offices and is free of charge. Please note that the language of the workshop is Arabic. Space is limited, so apply now (Arabic Only). Selected participants will receive an email confirmation from SMEX.
Please bring your computer and your camera or smart phone with you for the shooting and editing sessions.
The deadline for applying for both workshops is Saturday, September 15.
