Job Overview
As a Bread&Net Volunteer, you will play a vital role in supporting the planning and on-the-ground execution of SMEX’s annual flagship event. Whether assisting with registration, logistics, speaker coordination, media, or technical setup, your support will help ensure that Bread&Net 2025 is a smooth, welcoming, and engaging experience for all attendees.
This is a temporary, paid volunteer role with flexible opportunities before and during the event, based on your interests, skills, and availability.
Responsibilitie
Depending on your selected role(s), your responsibilities may include:
- Assisting with attendee registration and staffing the information desk
- Supporting speakers and coordinating stage logistics
- Helping with photography and videography during sessions and activities
- Creating or curating content for social media and communications
- Assisting with A/V and technical setup for sessions (on-site or hybrid)
- Supporting translation and interpretation (live or written)
- Helping with event logistics: setup, packdown, and general coordination
- Ensuring accessibility and safety standards are followed
- Providing general support to SMEX staff and the Bread&Net team as needed
Qualifications
- A strong interest in digital rights, social justice, or regional activism
- Previous experience volunteering at events (preferred but not required)
- Good organizational and communication skills
- Ability to work in a team and follow directions
- Fluency in Arabic and/or English (other languages are a plus)
- Availability to volunteer during Bread&Net 2025 on October 29-30-31 (and possibly before)
- Availability to attend an onboarding meeting at least a month prior to the event, and, if need be, training sessions related to the volunteering tasks assigned.
